Sudden damage to your roof can be stressful. Here are some steps and helpful information to guide you through the process.

**It is important to know, as the homeowner you can choose the roofing company you trust to complete necessary repairs.  If sudden damage is causing your roof to leak, you do not need to wait for the insurance adjuster before hiring a company who can assist with protecting your roof from further damage.

The Claims Process:

The first step is to file a claim with your provider.  It is their responsibility to send an adjuster to inspect and assess potential damages to your roof at no additional cost to you. The adjuster will create an estimate on the cost of repairs. They then subtract your deductible from the determined cost to fix the roof, which will be the amount they provide for necessary repairs or replacement.

MTC Roofing can also work directly with your insurance provider to ensure accuracy of their inspection results and repair estimates. Our partnership with GAF allows us to utilize the same tools insurance companies use in the estimation process. This gives us the ability to communicate clearly through the process with the insurance company and be an advocate for the homeowner. Additionally, MTC Roofing works with GAF to have access to weather reporting based on location inorder to more clearly pinpoint when damages may have occurred.

Understanding your deductible:

You do not pay the deductible directly at any time. Insurance will send you a check at which point you can negotiate the final cost of repairs with the company of your choice.

If you have a Mortgage:

The mortgage company will most likely be named on the check.  Since the mortgage company technically still owns a portion of the home, they have an invested interest in knowing repairs are completed.  Some insurance companies will send the check directly to your mortgage first who will then sign it and return it to you.  If the check is sent to you first with the mortgage listed, you will need to contact your mortgage and arrange for them to sign before you are able to cash the check.

Is MTC Roofing willing to start repairs prior to the check?

MTC Roofing is willing to tarp prior to insurance approval to ensure that no additional damages to your home occur. It is not advisable to get your roof replaced or repaired prior to adjuster viewing your damages, as the insurance needs to verify damages before work is done.
